Not As Good As Similar-Priced Others
I bought these pans after reading elsewhere that they were constructed with internal steel rods to prevent warp at high temperatures. I don't know how true that is, but I've used them a few times, and they haven't warped. Another reviewer commented that the raised logo on the bottom was a bother as it becomes embossed on the cakes. This is certainly true, but since I always decorate my cakes, this is not an issue for me. The reviewer who said this, though, seems to be much more experienced than I am, and may be baking more advanced creations. It seems to me that even a minimal decoration, such as a smattering of powdered sugar would cover this, but it does irk me that the logo isn't even backwards; at least then it would produce a nice logo on the cake rather than a bunch of backwards letters marring the surface!
I compared these pans to Cuisinart AMB-9RCKCH 9-Inch Chef's Classic Nonstick Bakeware...
All sweet surprises
These Chicago Metallic Commericial uncoated 8' round cake pans were all that I was hoping for. I've sworn off non-stick and these pans soak in soapy water and clean like a dream. I've taken one of those non-stick 1/2 sheets and cut two circles out of it to fit inside the pans. It works great with these Chicago Metallic pans. I feel like they will last me a lifetime. Why the sheets instead of non-stick pans you ask? The sheets last a long time but can be replaced and the pan keeps going. Non-stick eventually chips off no matter what you do.
Chicago Metallic is Simply the Best
You can't buy a better cake pan. Period. For the quality, you can't beat the price, plus it's way better than Wilton.
