cracked in half at 450F...
I loved this dish, and have been using it for three months now. as with all LC cookware, one becomes accustomed to the fact that they are extremely reliable, so I am kind of at a loss now.
I haven't gone above 400F with this dish so far, but tonight a recipe instructed 450F. the description on its packaging allows up to 500F, so I wasn't even second guessing.
then, 5 mins later a snapping sound from the oven, and, voila, it was cracked in half with surgical precision, along the shorter axis. now I have two small pans, each with its own handle.
with this exact piece it's not about the price exactly, and it _was_ great till it lasted.
I'm just a little bewildered about the quality and not so assured and relaxed about LC stoneware and their proclaimed heat resistance anymore. better stay below 400F, esp with the more costly pieces.
Beautiful and functional!
I'm a real fan of Le Creuset products because every piece I have (and, believe me, that's many) performs very well and really holds up to extreme temperature change. This Cherry Red dish is absolutely beautiful (the red gradually gets deeper in color towards the base), and the size is perfect for baking/serving a side dish or hot appetizer, like a dip. It actually makes the food in it look more appealing, if that's possible. Can't ask for much more than something that's both functional and good-looking! P.S. FYI, the color Flame is also very appealing (goes from bright orange to red towards the base).
Great gift idea
I gave this dish to 2 friends for Christmas and got rave reviews. It's perfect for serving hot appetizer dips or for side dishes at dinner. The color is great- vibrant but not too bright.
