The problem is the lid...
This is the most beautiful item of cookware that I own. The problem is the lid. The handle is too small to be able to grab it easily with a potholder. I can't believe Le Creuset put something out there with this kind of design flaw. I'm not sure how exactly you're supposed to be able to lift the lid on and off without either dropping it in the pot or scalding yourself.
Can't beat Le Creuset!
I have several Le Creuset enameled cast-iron pots and love them all, but this one is the PERFECT size!... Not too big, not too small. Love the oval design too. Lots of other companies have started making enameled cast iron, but from my experience, you get what you pay for. Buy Le Creuset and your grandchildren will be using it years down the road!

I just love the shape and color of this casserole, I can saute' in it and it bakes like a dream. I can freeze in it too. This is very good quality. Would be a great present for someone. I have even baked bread in it.
